About KICD - Full Service Radio 1240 AM
KICD - Full Service Radio 1240 AM has been a steady voice in Spencer, Iowa for generations, and it still fills that role every single day. In an age of endless playlists and podcasts, this station sticks with something older and, honestly, more useful: real information for real neighbors.
The station broadcasts on the 1240 AM frequency, a signal that reaches across northwest Iowa with local news, weather, and farm market reports. Morning listeners catch headlines before heading out the door. Farmers hear grain prices while working the fields. And when severe weather sweeps through Clay County, the transmitter keeps towns informed hour after hour.
Talk programming anchors much of the broadcast day. National hosts share the airwaves with conversations about school board decisions, county fair plans, and road construction projects that matter close to home. That is rare. It is radio built on the assumption that listeners care about their own backyard, because they clearly do.
