About The Great American Songbook Radio
The Great American Songbook Radio is a highly popular, non-commercial 24/7 online broadcasting network based directly in New York City. Founded by passionate music lovers René and Jennifer, this digital platform is dedicated entirely to preserving the golden era of American music. While some automated directories mistakenly list it as a generic national broadcast, it operates with a distinct, high-quality curation strategy from New York, offering a sophisticated escape from modern pop. The frequency focuses primarily on the absolute best American pop standards, smooth vocal jazz, and adult contemporary tracks spanning from the 1940s through to the present day.
A Massive Library of Timeless Jazz Classics
What truly sets this station apart is its incredibly expansive musical archive. The broadcast boasts a massive digital library containing over 17,000 songs from more than 2,200 distinct artists. Listeners tuning in will hear legendary vocalists and iconic composers, including Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter. To ensure a consistently fresh and engaging listening experience, the curators utilize a special template rotation system. This unique automated programming guarantees that no artist—with the sole exception of Frank Sinatra—will be repeated within a 60-minute window, providing an unparalleled variety of classic jazz arrangements.
High-Quality Streaming for Music Lovers
Delivering an optimal auditory experience is a top priority for this non-profit network. The station provides its premium content completely free of charge, offering highly reliable AAC+ and MP3 URL streams that avoid the clutter of commercial interruptions. For the absolute best playback quality without buffering or dropouts, the founders highly recommend tuning in via standard media players and avoiding the FMOD audio player. Whether you are relaxing at home or driving through the city, this New York-based stream serves as a vital community hub for those who truly appreciate the finer details of musical composition and the rich cultural heritage of the United States.
